Bankroll out the Window

Sometimes you have to take a risk when playing poker online. We all know this as gamblers that every poker online hand we play we’re involving ourselves in a risk, but the risk I’m talking about here is a risk in bankroll. You’re a competent online poker player, and there’s a no-limit game full of live ones (fish) but you don’t have the bankroll to buy in. Sometimes it may be worth taking that leap and buying in to a juicy game that you can win big in. We’ll say you usually play 1-2 dollar games, and there’s a lot of fish at the 3-6 dollar game. You have about 2000 in your bankroll, ten buy-ins in your 1-2 dollar game, but this 3-6 game is just so loose and passive that you feel you could make a mint. In situations like this you have to ask yourself the question of whether or not you’re willing to take the risk of putting up of your bankroll to buy-in for almost a full stack for the chances of winning big. If you staked the game correctly, and evaluated that you’re a better player, there’s always an exception to the rule. I say go ahead and buy in and get involved. After all, if you start losing big, you can always quit, cut your losses and drop back down to your level. But if you’re in it to make some money, you’ll encounter these situations where you can make a mint by taking that risk and outplaying the weaker players at a higher level than you normally play.
