Windsor Castle is understood to be the biggest colonised castles on the globe & the oldest in nonstop inhabitation (in excess of 900 years). It’s one of Queen Elizabeth’s 3 actual homes, & is often commented to be her outright most treasured home. The Royal flag soars over the Round Tower of Windsor Castle at whatever time Queen Elizabeth 2 is at the palace – at other periods, the Union Jack flag soars in its place.

Samuel Pepys once announced Windsor Castle to be “the most passionate castle in the world.” That was said in sixteen sixty six & the comparable has been said today.

Windsor Castle Remarkable History:

The building of Windsor can be found in the seventh century Saxon settlement of Windlesora, where the modern day dwellings of Old Windsor is located. The town of Windsor is rightly recognised as the “New Windsor” – the actual word “new” being referenced in a relative sense! Visit Windsor Castle, Queen Elizabeth’s magnificent residence.

Windsor Castle was formally put up by the eminent William the Conqueror, following his hit of England in ten sixty six. The original construction was assembled from wood with earth barricades. Palace held a clear tactical location on a tall mound above the River Thames, and was a division of a ring of strongholds all around the City, with the Tower of London, one day’s trip away, at its hub.

The Castle was soon after recreated in rock, and rose in worth over the following centuries. Later on Henry 2nd put up the Round Tower and the original stone outer wall. After the English Civil War, the Castle’s prime role became that of a royal home. The Castle has stayed largely untouched since the early 19th century, apart from the restoration job following the great fire in 1992.
