Naveen Jain was born in India and earned his engineering undergraduate degree from the University of Roorkee. He then furthered his studies by taking up an MBA course from St. Xavier’s School of Management.
Immigrating to the United States, he was lucky enough to work for the Microsoft Corporation from the late 1980s up to the early 1990s. He worked on laying the groundwork for Microsoft’s Internet solutions.
Naveen Jain left Microsoft in 1996 to lead InfoSpace, an Internet service provider that supplies telephone and address records to main Web providers including AOL and MSN. Infospace proved to be a success and eventually went public in the NASDAQ market, pushing the infotech company forward with the acquisition of 24 business entities.
Riding on the success of Infospace, Naveen Jain left in 2003 to start Intelius. Patterned after Jain’s vision of providing intelligence research solutions that are cost effective and efficient, Intelius creates solutions that would enable consumers to make wise choices regarding the people they interact with on both professional and personal levels.
Intellius’ data solutions include IDWatch, which received a nomination during the 2006 American Business Awards. Their product competed in the “Best New Product or Service” category.
Other services of Jain’s company include tracking records, verification of professional background and educational identities, and streamlined drug-testing programs. The information used by the services are taken from public federal and state records including court documents, real estate deeds, and government databases.
Due to his entrepreneurial successes, Naveen Jain has received numerous citations from civic and business groups. His list of awards include “Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year” and the “Albert Einstein Technology Medal”.
Jain is also a noted philanthropist and has pledged financial donations to several civic institutions dealing with world issues including health, education, and poverty. Among those he has assisted are Children’s Hospital, United Way, CRY India, and the University of Washington.
