Redlands Says, Tear Down Orange Groves for New High School

June 25th, 2008 by admin

Not content with just 2 high schools in the city of Redlands, they have decided to build another one. The two high schools currently are Redlands high on State Street, and Redlands East Valley, which is actually in Mentone. Apparently those two were not enough so the city decided to commission to built a third one.

The problem is that the new high school being built required several unfortunate things to happen. First, it’s being constructed on Pioneer, which is a street in Redlands that used to be lined with orange groves. Now, it’s practically all dirt. Gutted up by bulldozers and replaced with new homes that nobody wants or just sits unused until the land owner can sell it to a developer with money. Another problem is that Redlands tried to get old lady to move out of her old house on her land, which is located directly in front of the school area. They city was unable to get her to move, but she’s now surrounded by construction from the school being built, and she’ll soon be engulfed with bratty high school gremlins stamping all over her prized petunias. Not only that, but the construction is tearing up the street in general and soon won’t allow cars to pass through.

It’s understandable that, if absolutely needed, Redlands should build a new high school. Although I’m not sure why they don’t just expand on the schools that already have. Maybe the new Citrus Valley High School, which was once appropriate, will have aspiring new web developers that graduate from it and will be able to produce great web design in Redlands. New schools especially should offer more classes that skew towards the technical side of things.
